Hi, I am Shoshanah Shear and I manage our online gift store – Creations from Jerusalem. Some of the art or products on the store are created by my mother, Rosemary Ann Kahn who is a retired teacher, author and artist. Some photographic products or tech behind the scenes comes from my husband, Rabbi Eliyahu Shear, Torah teacher, author, photographer, Sofer STaM, Chatan teacher and all round creative and tech savvy.
Having introduced you to two members of the family who support the store in various ways, I guess I should introduce myself. The bulk of the art or products together with managing this online gift store is my work. So who am I?
The photographs above and below share a lot about who I am. For a little explanation that is written out, I am a third generation artist and author. I took a detour through occupational therapy only to return to my first love which is creating and writing. As you can see in the images, I am inspired by nature, colour, light and beauty. I love to paint and yearn to get back to doing large paintings. In the meantime, I have a range of books I am writing, journals and workbooks being created and all sorts of fun and useful creative gifts.
Just like others in my family, I love putting together a gift in a tasteful and beautiful way. For many years, most of the gifts that I give to members of my family or to friends are created by me. That could be a hand drawn or created gift card, an item I have sewn or knitted or some home décor I have painted. As I began building this online store it very quickly turned into a gift store. Every product, book or piece of art is created with much thought and care.
Art and creating is in my blood, it’s who I am. Not only in the form of painting or creating products, but music and singing are part of our family too. My late father had a beautiful singing voice and blew Shofar in a way that touched the heart and soul – hence one reason for the Shofar in the logo. Although I am musical, I have not developed my music, but I am fascinated by the teaching of Azamra where it is possible to create an unsung melody by elevating positive points in events and life. The creative kindness club was born out of much soul searching related to a series of strange and hard events. As I learned from both my profession of occupational therapy and from Torah, everything happens for a reason! When faced with challenges we have two choices, we can either allow them to pull us down or we can use them in some way for growth and healing. As a result, our creative kindness club in dedicated to my late father. Find out more on the Creative Kindness Club.
I hope that explains enough of who I am. If you would like to learn more, you can subscribe to my YouTube Channel.
Thanks for stopping by my online gift store. I look forward to helping you to select a beautiful creative gift or to welcome you into a Creative Kindness Club.
As a parting thought, a strong lesson I learned through my years as an occupational therapist and from my personal journey is the world really does need Redemption. One way to get there is by increasing Acts of Loving Kindness. I hope this gift store does it’s part in Hastening the Geulah.
