For several years, we tried to work towards the idea of developing a non-profit with the opportunity for those who wish to become partners in our journey to make a donation. We also tried several different crowd fundraisers. We have had many challenges to setting up a non-Profit and then discovered another option – Patreon. Patreon is combination of a membership website and a crowd fundraiser. The focus is on enabling those who are creative to have Patrons to help them to focus their time and energy on what they do best, which is to create.
We love creating and we love to share blog posts that inspire, videos that educate and offer hope and a range of other products. Our problem is two-fold.
1 – Due to a range of life’s challenges, we are still renters. For me, Shoshanah, that has meant 43 moves.
Every time we move it means weeks and months spent apartment hunting, packing, moving and unpacking which prevents us
from being able to use the talents and skills in order to earn. It is very disruptive and unsettling. It also makes it impossible to
reach the stage of recovery from a chronic, debilitating illness that has no cure. The only advise doctors can recommend is
rest. It’s not very easy to earn when resting or to move when resting. Neither is it easy to rest when moving. Hence our goal to
level up our earning and be able to have our full centre. The full centre has many features that give back to others
2 – We create a lot of content that is shared on line for which we currently receive no pay. This includes and our blog posts and
our videos. Although we hope to grow our YouTube Channels to enable us to earn from sponsors we are no where near that
goal. In addition, many who wish to learn Torah with my husband lack the finances or are not prepared to pay for this tuition.
My husband spends much time preparing every Shiur, time to teach and more time following up and offering guidance. Since
he is not a community rabbi, meaning there is no community paying him, without pay, teaching is impossible. Hence we have
created Patreon Pages.
